Jersey Arts Centre, in association with ARTcomedia, presents The Red Balloon this Christmas!
A special relaxed performance will be staged at 3pm on Sunday 14 December.
A ‘relaxed performance’ is a theatre show designed especially for audiences who find the traditional theatre setting challenging. It is a show that’s been adapted to suit people who might require a more relaxed environment when going to the theatre. Jersey Arts Centre is thrilled to host another relaxed performance for its upcoming Christmas Show: The Red Balloon!
What is the show about?
Based on the Oscar-winning film of the same name by Albert Lamorisse, The Red Balloon follows Pascal, a lonely Parisian boy who finds a friend in the most unlikely of places. This imaginative family musical, is a story of hope, innocence and the joy of childhood.
Our performance will include changes to the traditional layout to allow for more wheelchair users, and for our neurodiverse audience members we can also arrange more space between groups to allow our audience to move around the auditorium freely when needed. The sounds and lighting will be adapted to ease any overstimulation of the senses. We are also delighted that staff from Mont L’Abbe will be on site, not only to help in the auditorium, but also in the breakout room – which will be fully equipped with apparatus to help re-regulate our audience members who need it.
You will get a chance to meet our super cast while our fantastic Narrator takes you through the synopsis of the show explaining all the behind-the-scenes magic. We are aware that for many members of our community, the theatre can be stressful, and an unobtainable treat. By supporting us, you will help us to create more immersive experiences for your families in the future. Theatre is for everyone – so we urge you to join us.
Please feel free to bring along any fidget toys, noise cancelling headphones and self-soothing items. The use of electronic devices will be allowed, though not for the use of audio or video recording.
