Between 1942 and 1945, the Schloss in Bad Wurzach was used as an interment camp for those British nationals deported from Jersey. As there were almost 200 children under the age of 18 interned, school materials, paper and paint were delivered through the ICRC and the YMCA’s prisoner of war aid organisation. A large number of watercolours and drawings were created that now provide an insight into everyday life in the camp. Many of these images are now kept at the Jersey Archive, but many more are still in private hands.

Curated by Gisela Rothenhausler of the Bad Wurzach Partnerschaft Committee, and translated by Angela Francy, BEM.
