After a career in teaching, Helen now teaches English as a second language to refugees and asylum seekers for the charity New Citizens’ Gateway. For the past ten years Helen has been speaking to school groups, students, government departments and community groups about her mother, Emmy Golding, who came to England as a refugee from Germany in 1939. She is a founder member and Associate Director of the organisation Generation 2 Generation, which trains the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors to tell their family stories and is one of its 41 speakers.
