This astounding documentary, nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film at the 2025 Academy Awards, focuses on the crashing of the UN Security Council by American musicians Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach in 1961. Protesting the murder of the newly elected Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba, sixty demonstrators threw punches, banged stilettos and provoked violence with guards. Combining themes of jazz and decolonisation amidst the background of the Cold War, this unique piece of cinematic storytelling is not to be missed.
