The Last Walk is based on an original short story by Yvonne Heavey, inspired by memories of her late father and a childhood journey across rural Ireland. On the surface, it is a simple story of a father and daughter walking to visit the grandmother. Beneath that simplicity lies something more universal, memory, family, love and the quiet moments that shape us long after they have passed.

Created by writer Yvonne Heavey, clown performer Allan Gardner and physical theatre director Mark Jones, the production transforms the written word into a rich physical language of movement, storytelling, clowning and voice. Drawing on Gardner’s training with performers from Cirque du Soleil, the work balances humour and vulnerability in equal measure.

At its heart, The Last Walk is a celebration of ordinary lives and extraordinary memories. It reminds us that some of the most important moments in our lives are not the grand occasions, but the walks, conversations and shared silences that only reveal their significance years later. Filled with warmth, humanity and imagination, the piece invites audiences to consider one simple but profound question: whose last walk is it?
