The James Owston Quartet

Over the last ten years, James Owston has become one of the most in demand double bassists in the UK. He is highly regarded for his technical fluidity, and stylish, virtuosic, captivating performances.

After touring with his trio in autumn 2023, he started focusing on his quartet for which he wrote the suite of music Songs from an Imaginary Childhood. Recorded in 2024, it is James’s debut recording as a leader and will be released this year.

The Quartet will be exploring some of their early influences, from composers including: Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Antonio Carlos-Jobim. This celebration from the Great American Songbook repertoire includes many memorable Jazz standards…
