Prepare for the fascinating and shocking Art History of the dynamic and explosive period of the French Revolution with Courtauld Institute of Art graduate Lisa Oxenden-Wray B.A. (Hons), PG Dip. Over this two-hour lecture, you will cover the Reign of Terror and the Ancien Regime, from King Louis XIV to Charles X. We will look at the decadent and deadly political build up to the execution of King Louis XVI and the new rule of the French Emperor Napoleon, illustrated with Rococo paintings, portraits of Madame de Pompadour, Marie Antoinette, Napoleon and Neo Classical Art.
