Iain Forsyth, Jane Pollard / United Kingdom / 2024 / 77 mins
The Extraordinary Miss Flower brings to life the remarkable story of the Geraldine Flower and the discovery of a suitcase of letters sent to her in the 60s and 70s that inspired acclaimed Icelandic singer/songwriter Emiliana Torrini to return to the studio.
Part film, part theatre, part fever dream – The Extraordinary Miss Flower takes the form of a series of specially designed performances of these songs by Emiliana and her band, combined with dramatic scenes and readings from letters by well-known actors and musicians. It’s ultimately a heartfelt love letter to the enduring power of creativity and friendship.
“The extraordinary Miss Flower weaves her magic to the last moment.” – Screen Daily
“The band’s ethereal music, together with Kate Coyne’s endearingly strange choreography, works in tandem to create an unexpectedly seductive experience.” – Deadline
We are delighted to welcome directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard to introduce their film, followed by a Q and A with Terry O’Connor.
