This BAFTA-nominated drama, set in 18th century France, follows a young painter, Marianne, who is commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of another young woman, Heloise. As Marianne observes Heloise by day in order to paint her at night, the two women become closer as they share Heloise’s last moments of freedom before her impending nuptials.
