Life and Love on the Farm
Michael Morpurgo is one of the UK’s most treasured storytellers. Returning to Jersey Festival of Words for his third visit, he will discuss his new book for adults, Down Burrow Lane. Here is the tale of a little girl of seven, who fell in love with the countryside of Devon and was determined that, when she grew up, she would enable as many children as possible to experience the joys of nature. So began 50 years ago the charity Farms for City Children, set up by Michael and his wife Clare. It now has three farms and has welcomed over 100,000 children. This is the best story Michael Morpurgo has ever told, because it’s true, and because it goes on to this day and beyond.
