By Charles Dickens / Adapted for the stage by Neil Bartlett

Directed by Hettie Duncan and Nicole Twinam

Break their hearts my pride and hope; break their hearts and have no mercy…

A terrifying encounter in a foggy churchyard sets unlucky orphan Pip’s life onto an unexpected path. Haunted by the embittered Miss Havisham and tormented by his love for the cold and alluring Estella, Pip’s journey takes him from the countryside of Kent to the dangerous city of London as he searches for his mysterious benefactor responsible for his “great expectations”…

From its opening images of windswept marshes, to the eerie darkness of Miss Havisham’s cobweb-strewn lair, this atmospheric adaptation of the classic novel by acclaimed playwright Neil Bartlett takes its audience on a journey through Dickens’ exploration of childhood terrors and hopes – and of adult dreams and regrets.

Don’t miss Jersey Arts Centre youtheatre’s latest production, as they bring Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations to thrilling theatrical life!
