Ever wondered why some words sound pleasant to the ear, and others can make us shudder?
Phonaesthetics is the study of the beauty of sound within language. In this interactive session, we will explore the theory, play with sounds, and experiment with ‘beautiful’ and ‘ugly’ words. We will consider how to use sound to improve our storytelling by drawing on gut reactions to certain noises. This workshop will suit beginner writers through to those with experience. All you need is a pen, an open mind, and a love of words.
