We use narrative to understand our world and ourselves.

From the earliest forms of western literature to the present day, this six-week course invites you to consider a variety of genres, styles and subjects and immerse yourself in the diverse beauty of the written word. Each week we will explore one literary era and examine the richest genres from that period. Come and explore the origins of the fairytale form, learn the difference between a sonnet and a villanelle, and debate why the short story is still the ‘cinderella’ of the literary world.
