80 Years: Then and Now – Call for entries!

  • 10 April - 28 April
Jersey Arts Centre's Berni Gallery
In recognition of Jersey’s 80 years of Liberation, Jersey Arts Centre invites the community to take part in a special photography exhibition: 80 YEARS – THEN AND NOW
We welcome photographers of all abilities and ages to explore and interpret this theme in their own way. What has changed over the last 80 years? How has the island moved on since Liberation? This could be a reflection on the landscape, the people, the culture, or even a more abstract representation of the passage of time.
Your submission can take the form of a single image or a diptych (a pair of images) to contrast past and present.
You might consider:
– Revisiting an old photograph and recreating it in the present day.
– Capturing how history lingers in the everyday life of the island.
– Exploring personal or collective memories through abstract or conceptual imagery.
– Using texture, light, or symbolism to represent time and transformation.
No professional experience or equipment is necessary—smartphone photography is welcome! We are looking for creative and thoughtful interpretations rather than technical perfection.
From these submissions, we will select up to 30 images to be exhibited in the Berni Gallery at Jersey Arts Centre between 5 May and 31 May 2025.
