Alec Guinness is superb as the sinister ringleader plotting a bank heist with four other criminals from the upstairs bedroom belonging to their sweetly unsuspecting landlady, Mrs Wilberforce. William Rose wrote the Academy Award-nominated screenplay for this classic Ealing Studios black comedy; he claimed to have dreamt the entire film and merely had to remember the details when he awoke!
