Books advising you on how to improve your mental health are not rare, but it is arguable that few of them offer any kind of assistance. Rachel Kelly has used her experience of clinical depression (which involved the Oxford graduate, working mother and Times journalist going from mild anxiety to a spell in a psychiatric hospital in the space of three days) to suggest techniques to prevent being overwhelmed.

Her first book, Black Rainbow, was a Sunday Times bestseller in 2014 and showed how the written word, especially poetry, can provide a lifeline for anyone struggling with low moods. Walking on Sunshine offers 52 ideas to manage the pressures of life. Rachel will also be discussing her book The Happy Kitchen, an exploration of the effect the right food can have on good mood.

Rachel will be interviewed by ITV news presenter Jess Dunsdon. A portion of ticket proceeds from this event will be donated to Mind Jersey.

Event sponsored by Le Gallais.
